How To Create Brush Clip Studio Paint

_{I've been noticing a lot of people don't know how to install CSP brushes, so I thought I might make a quick tutorial for the folks who have aren't sure how to install .sut files!}

Luckily this is pretty easy to do and you can do it with every resource you may download [this technique works for all custom brushes you download outside of Clip Studio Assets [which installs brushes right into your program [check it out sometime!] as well as textures and other things.]

To add some preface; when someone uploads 'resources' - whether it be textures, brushes, patterns, or even color palettes; it's pretty typical to zip it into a compressed folder, sometimes called a 'rar' or a 'zip' or my personal preference a '7z.' This is really confusing for first time users, it definitely was for me when I first experienced it downloading custom content for Sims 3! But it's easy to deal with when you get the hang of it, so don't worry! They're not as complicated as they seem.

From my experience, the reason I zip my brushes together, is because it gets really irritating to upload each brush one by one. That's why you put them in a folder and zip them up- and then you can upload just one folder - the compressed one. [the zip, rar or 7z, in other words.] I do it for convienience, and I'm pretty gosh-darn sure everyone else does too!

In order to unzip these compressed folders, you're going to need an extractor. Never fear; the majority of them are free [although they sometimes have nag-ware [this basically means they nag you constantly to buy the paid version while you can still use the free one.]]. Personally I use 7zip, it's free, easy to install, and doesn't take up much space. Others include 'Winrar' and you could probably go digging around the Windows Store to find one there. Personally I would recommend 7zip, because it doesn't have nagware and is really easy to use.

You probably already know how to download files from deviantArt. It's easy as pie, but I thought I might include it just to be sure!

Once you download it [to wherever, you're downloads folder, your documents, or your desktop- WHEREVER, it should appear as a basic file, like this one!

Right click, and either 'extract to ____' or 'extract'. The difference is, 'extracting to' is that the files will extract to a nice neat folder. 'Extract here' means everything extracts RIGHT THERE. However, some people put a folder inside a folder [like some of mine] so that if you do 'extract' there won't be a huge mess regardless.

Okay, so now you've got your folder filled with brushes. This is easy! Just click on one [or more] and drag them into whatever panel you want them in. It really doesn't matter, as long as it's convienient for you as a user. [My CSP panels may be a bit different, but don't worry, that's just how I've set mine up. It's still the same thing, regardless how big, or where your brush/tool panels are!]

Also a note- if you want to install a ton of brushes at once, select them all and drag and drop them. But PLEASE KNOW - it's taxing on your computer, and if your pc is not strong enough, it may crash. So be aware of ram-usage and try to install only a few brushes at a time and if need to be exit out of CSP and then open the program again. Unless, of course- you have a huge amount of ram and your computer is a beast, but still be cautious! My computer can handle a lot, but the program still freezes from time to time.

I should also mention that you should also KNOW exactly where you want your brushes. Staying organized is key, because unfortunately you can /install/ brushes in bulk, but you cannot MOVE them in bulk. So it's a pain to try and move one hundred brushes to different panels.

Wha-la! There's your custom brush right there! Test it out, fiddle with it, recategorize it, whatever! Complete with a cute kitten to brighten your day! xD
