Overall safety rating:

Our overall rating for Wizarding World

The site has lots of activities for Harry Potter fans such as, quizzes, articles and polls, that some children might find fun. Because there are no communication features available on the site, we think it's ok for kids to use as long as they have parental permission.

We think most of the content is child-friendly, however it does reference Harry Potter's parent's death which some children might find upsetting. If your child is under 13 you might want to explore the site yourself and check whether you think it's appropriate.

Safety features

As there are no communication features on the site and it doesn't share any personal information with other users, there are no additional safety features.

Kids under the age of 13 need parental permission to access the site. If a child registers with a date of birth that indicates they are under 13 they will need to supply a parental email address. The parent will then receive an email to give consent. You should make sure to talk to your child about the importance of talking to you first before they use a new app, site or game.

Privacy & location

There are no location settings on the site and they do not collect data from accounts set up by children 13 and under as stated in their Children's privacy policy.

There are no communication features available but over 13s can choose to share certain updates, like spells and potions, on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. You should talk to your child about what they're sharing on social media and remind them to not include any personal information.

Reporting & blocking

There are no reporting or blocking features on the platform because there is no user interaction.

Content

We think most of the content on Wizarding World is child-friendly but it does reference the death of Harry's parents, which some children could find upsetting. The Wizarding Passport is a bit like a profile page that shows you things like your Hogwarts house and wand.

Sitting down with your child and exploring Wizarding World together is a great way to find out more about why they enjoy spending time on it. It also gives you an opportunity to look at the features and discuss ways they can keep safe.

Wizarding World has lots of different activities, like quizzes, so you could decide to do one together to help you get to know the site a little better.

Explain that you understand the internet is a great place to play, create, learn and connect. But remind them they can talk to you if anything upsets or worries them.

Reassure them that you won't overreact – you're just looking out for them.

It's important to remind your child that they can talk you, another adult they trust, like a teacher, or Childline about anything they see online.

Get emails on the latest social networks, apps and games your kids are using, so you're always up to date.
